#100WCGU – Wk57 – Prompt: …returning to the routine… – 104 words – “Monochrome”

14 Sep

The monochrome room was filled with unsmiling faces. Each weekday morning, returning to the routine, they would arrive, take their seats and listen to the endless drone. At times pens would be raised and words or numbers written.

This was the way it had been until the great change came one morning.

Each arrived and sat, awaiting the drone but, today, one smiled and said, “Red.”

Another smiled, “Blue.”

Yet another, “Yellow.”

Soon smiles and colours filled the once monochrome room.

It hadn’t taken much.

The great change, their new teacher, smiled, “Good morning, class. What great things would YOU like to learn today?”

Schools and students have permission to use this graphic for non-commercial, educational purposes.

      Thanks for the comment.

Luckily, teachers such as the first are things of the past. As a teacher, one of my joys was seeing the enthusiasm of the children in my class, especially when we were able to take a direction they wanted.

Blue here! Colour is a great mood-lifter, isn’t it.

      Thanks for the comment.

Colour most definitely should be a part of the classroom. My classes and I loved to fill the room with things we made and activities we carried out.

      Thanks for the comment.

Walk around any school and you can see the teachers who colour the lives of their student’s learning. Luckily the notion of the monochrome teacher’s drone has ended as children are much more involved in their learning. 🙂

I’ve always felt money, time and caring invested in the education of children is an investment in the future of everyone. 🙂

      Thanks for the comment.

I’m trying to use only original graphics/photos/audio/video in future posts unless I source and pay for stock items. For my personal creations, I want to make them freely available to schools and students. Time can be a factor so some will be basic but at least they’ll be free to use.
