#100WCGU – Wk101 – Prompt: “after all the excitement” – 104 words – “Editing”

The rehearsals, costumes, makeup and excitement are all part of the preparation and performance in a large performing arts festival for schools. After all the excitement children, parents and teachers return to their normal routines with the experiences now a part of the memories they will carry with them throughout life.

Sitting at my desk, days pass, my work only having begun with the performance. There are DVDs to produce for schools and families. I pause between edits, over 100 hours into the process. As a break, I pick up my pen and write another 100WCGU story. Once posted, I return to my edit.

Saturday Centus – Wk#171 – Prompt: “Ground control to Major Tom” – 105 words in romance style– “Maren”

Maren’s golden curls draped loosely on her shoulders. Her pale blue eyes gazed at the boy she knew was her true love.

He hadn’t noticed her so she made the first move, “Ground control to Major Tom.”

Tom looked up angrily from his mission task, his epaulets glinting in sunlight.

“Go away! You can’t be in space.”

Momentarily upset by the rebuff, Maren had an idea.

“Major Tom, it’s Princess Leia. Please save me from Darth Vader.”

Tom’s eyes lit up, “Okay, I’ll rescue you.”

They passed the afternoon fighting aliens. Maren may be only five but she knew the way to this boy’s heart.
