#100WCGU – Wk48 – Prompt: I blamed it on the dog – 106 words – “Pointed!”

04 Jul

“Did you eat the cream cakes I just made?”

I had to think quickly. I blamed it on the dog. I know I shouldn’t have but mum had just made the most delicious looking cream cakes.

Mum looked at our dog, “Who ate the cakes, boy?”

As quick as a flash, the dog took the pose my dad had trained him to do when out looking for animals to photograph. He pointed at me.

“He’s lying, mum.”

Did our dog smile?

“Then why do you have cream on your chin?”

“Uhh… the dog licked me afterwards.”

Mum didn’t believe me. I swear the dog was smiling.

Huh. If you can’t trust your dog (even when you set them up to take the blame for your crimes), who CAN you trust?? Well written!

      Thanks for the comment.

We can trust the dog but a child with cream on the face is another thing. 🙂

LOL This reminded me of the wonderful poem, Chocolate cake, by Michael Rosen. Good one.

      Thanks for the comment.

I checked out this You Tube post of Michael Rosen performing his poem, “Chocolate Cake”…

🙂 he knows what it’s like to be obsessed but he didn’t have a dog to blame.

      Thanks for the comment.

I must admit, there is a little of my childhood adventures in this story. 🙂

No, no, this is all wrong. Your dog would never TELL on you! ;-).

      Thanks for the comment.

The problem with a dog’s psyche is it recognises the pack leader, the alpha, and shows loyalty to that person. The child might be in trouble. 😉
