100WCGU – Wk#45 – Prompt: There’s a real buzz about this place – 100 words – “Virtual”

12 Jun

“There’s a real buzz about this place,” Zoe warned.

At first Myles thought she meant this was a place where much was happening but it was true, there was a faint buzz. The sound seemed to be everywhere.

Somewhere far above, probing eyes looked down, “I’ll need to reset. They almost discovered the truth.”

For just an instant, Myles and Zoe’s world ceased to exist then reappeared but they didn’t sense it. They did realise there was no longer a buzz.

A thought again from above, “The people in this 3D Virtual World Sims version are the most realistic yet.”

      Thanks for the comment.

I enjoyed The Truman Show but found the idea of a child growing in such a public idea with actors pretending to care about them quite disturbing. Let’s hope we don’t allow media to every reach this level. Jim Carrey was brilliant.

What a super interpretation of this week’s prompt. I took it literally and went down the bee route 🙂

      Thanks for the comment.

I toyed with the literal but my mind tends to wander in different directions. I like the challenge of looking for more unusual interpretations. 🙂

Great interpretation – highly original. And loved the illustration – perplexed dismay. Great.

It was fun to see the prompt in non-literal way. 🙂

Now this has got me wondering. Are we in a different plane or planet? I love the use of the buzz though. I’m off to think some more Ross!

      Thanks for the comment.

We are on the other side of the world to each other so it is a little close to off the planet. 🙂

Funny! I guess there was a bug in the program – so a buzz would be appropriate 😉

      Thanks for the comment.

Many years of experience with computers (over 35 years) has shown me some problems simply need the computer to reboot. 🙂

      Thanks for the comment.

The story did have some sense of The Truman Show. At least in this case the subjects were virtual but it makes me wonder if, in the future, the likes of SIms becomes so realistic the characters worry about those from above. 😉
