#100WCGU – Wk56 – Prompt: …being clear is essential to… – 105 words – “Lyle”

Mistiness, something out of the corner of the eye… there was a feeling in the air, a presence, a hint of sound.

In the ethereal world, the ghostly companion continued, “Lyle, being clear is essential to making yourself known.”

Lyle was worried, “We might scare them. I was scared of ghosts when I was with them.”

“If you’re clear, they’ll see you for who you were.”

Lyle tried again. His presence grew clear. His parents were startled at first but stood with tears in their eyes.

“Mumma, poppa, I’m okay. Nana is here with me. I love you both.”

His presence faded. His love remained.

Saturday Centus – Wk#121 – Prompt: Use every letter of the alphabet in no more than 126 words – “26 Words In Alphabetical order”

Andrew Baines could definitely expect Fiona’s Granny Harris in July, “Kinda like my nonna or perhaps Queenie’s.”

Rather silly?” Teresa uttered.

Very weirdly xenophobic!” Yvonne zinged.

#100WCGU – Wk55 – Prompt: Photo prompt, add the words – 100 words – “Daaaarliiing!”

Daaaarliiing!

I know it’s your birthday. How many? (I thought you were much older.) I think you need a new outlook on life and a new outfit to go with it.

This was me my last birthday. No one took notice of the years, they spent too much time staring at my new look so, if you’re worried about the years, throw on a wig of any bright colour you want, add some non-matching sunnies, add some gaudy bling and, if they still aren’t impressed, poke out your tongue and tell them they should look so good at your age.

This is the prompt photo from the 100WCGU site.

Saturday Centus – Wk#120 – Prompt: Write a sentence without using E or T – “100 Words and no E or T? Unassailing.”

A mask of ignominy across my mug if I fail in assailing a job for us from a mind so sly, as folk can cross swords, in our roving along our ups and downs in a world opposing us who would gladly walk along carrying no mind for such jobs simply from wishing a walk of happy doings and honouring of all who would smilingly allow us our world of humdrum moving along our way, whiling away our days in blissful unknowing, unsung in our world for having no crushing, worrying or major ways for showing our living was good.

#100WCGU – Wk54 – Prompt: Legacy – 100 words – “More Than Just a Word”

Legacy… most of us know the word. It’s a bequest, or gift or a consequence. For me, there’s a deeper meaning. Legacy was there when my family needed them.

Born from an idea of General Sir John Gellibrand after the end of WWI, he felt colleagues in business were not doing enough to help returned men. As the idea grew, it developed into what it is today. Legacy supports families of deceased or incapacitated servicemen.

For my brothers, 15 and 7, and myself, 12, the loss of our father was tragic yet Australia’s Legacy was there to help us.

Saturday Centus – Wk#119 – Prompt: Write a sentence without using E – “100 Words and no E? Thankful.”

What struck this wondrous man, who walks amongst us as our saviour, to allow him thoughts this way though all around him run away in forlorn, lost action still unknowing what all our kind should know till our Lamb of God did say why all must thank for all our gifts our world holds from a child’s grin to vast natural glory and all words from God brought unto us through his kind and caring longing for us to worship Whom all must in thanks for all that occurs in His immortal favour in both dark and light tomorrows coming?

#100WCGU – Wk53 – Prompt: …would seven prove to be too much? – 107 words – “The Girls Who Walked in Straight Lines”

I met a family with five daughters. Each day, mother arrived followed, in line, by the eldest to youngest daughter. I smiled as I thought of images from the “Madeline” books and the little girls who walked in straight lines

One day, the daughter in my class shared the news she was going to have a baby brother.

“I love children,” mother explained, “but I didn’t have a son.”

I smiled, “You have a beautiful family.”

She laughed, “My husband asked if I was happy now… but it would be nice if he had a little brother to play with. Would seven prove to be too much?

Saturday Centus – Wk#118 – Prompt: photo Style: Poetry – 100 words – “No Fool”

The day was hot one summer morn,

Not even shade was cool.

I looked out from conditioned room,

I thought those outside the fool.

I planned my day to stay inside,

This wasn’t allowed to be.

My collar linked to person side,

I was dragged out for all to see.

With panting breath and aching paws,

We followed our daily trail.

I slowed to walk, the heat the cause,

My heart was soon to fail.

Wait! There’s hope just up ahead,

Some ice thrown carelessly round,

If not this then I am dead,

There’s no moving this cooled down hound.

#100WCGU – Wk52 – Prompt: …together the flames… – 103 words – “A Myriad of Faces”

One bright candle lights the darkness… Another flickers to life followed by another. As the numbers grow, the glow lights a myriad of young faces.

One voice, then another as the chorus begins. Parents look on in awe, never before seeing the beauty of their children in such a way. Some shed tears… but not of sadness, of joy.

The sound of a hundred young voices fills the air, building to a crescendo. As the voices grow softer, one by one flames are snuffed until one remains.

There is silence.

Together the flames brought light to the dark. Together, their voices brought joy.
