100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups – Week#3

Strange sounds were heard echoing across the playground. Word was quickly passed to the principal.

As she walked from her office, she was convinced she knew why such utterances were being heard. Heading in the direction of the sounds, her suspicions were proved.

Looking through a window, she saw the contorted faces of children yet they were smiling. They were making the strangest sounds as though they were in agony. Their cries were heard throughout the school.

Smiling, she returned to her office. Her thought was for the children. Her hope was one day their much loved teacher would learn to sing in tune.

100 WC for Grown Ups – Week#2

I sit frozen in time watching the world pass by my feet. My eyes see the people as they pass. Their worries, fears, loves and hates give me life yet I can’t move. No one can see me as real.

Each day I dream of walking the streets, of greeting friends, of holding the hand of a child, and of having a purpose for being.

A child approaches and I hear her say, “Mummy, he looks so sad.”

She steps up and kisses me on the cheek.

“Don’t be sad,” she says softly.

Tears form in my eyes. I smile.

100 Word Challenge – Week #16 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups!

Why does it always happen that way?

Each morning I face a new day full of hopes I’ll write the greatest novel ever written. My day passes with simple words scribbled and doodles drawn.

At last the procrastination ends and I make a start…

“It was a dark and stormy night…”

What? Oh, come on! Not that cliché again. That scribbling is thrown away and I start again.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…”

Not that one you literate illiterate. It’s been done before.

Life is tough when you’re just the pen in the hand of the world’s worst novelist.
